Mumbai, the commercial capital of India, has emerged as a top investment choice for billionaires, Bollywood celebrities, and industrialists.

It has even surpassed Beijing to become Asia's 'billionaire capital'.

With property prices continuing to rise, many Bollywood actors, producers, and filmmakers, who invested heavily in the city's real estate market, are earning a significant income from the same.

1. Ajay Devgn

In early September, Ajay Devgn leased out a commercial space of 3,455 square feet for a monthly rent of Rs 7 lakh for five years, according to a Mint report.

The lease deal also includes a security deposit of Rs 30 lakh. According to News18, Devgn acquired the five commercial office spaces in July 2023 for Rs 45 crore.

These properties are located on the 16th and 17th floors of Signature Tower in Andheri, Mumbai.

2. Karan Johar

The multi-hyphenated filmmaker, who's renowned for his opulent lifestyle, earns huge sums from real estate. In 2021, Karan Johar leased out two commercial properties — in the name of Dharma Productions — for monthly rent of Rs Rs 17.56 lakh and Rs 6.15 lakh, according to MoneyControl.

Additionally, he has also rented out his three-storey apartment in Bandra to actor Imran Khan and his partner Lekha Washington for Rs 9 lakh monthly.

3. Kajol

According to CNBC TV18 and publicly available data, Kajol has an estimated net worth of around Rs 240 crore.

According to News18, the actress leased her apartment spanning 771 square feet, located on the 21st floor of the Atlantis project in Hiranandani Gardens (in Powai), for a monthly rent of Rs 90,000. The deal also included a security deposit of Rs 3 lakh.

4. Amitabh Bachchan

In 2021, Amitabh Bachchan leased out the ground floor of the Vatsa and Ammu bungalow, located near Jalsa, to the State Bank of India (SBI) for Rs 18.90 lakh per month for 15 years, according to Hindustan Times.

Earlier, it was leased out to Citibank, who had vacated the property in June 2019.

The report also states that SBI paid a security deposit of Rs 2.26 crore to complete the deal.

5. Saif Ali Khan

According to MoneyControl, Saif Ali Khan has rented out an apartment, located in Bandra, to a firm called Guilty by Association Media LLP. The Bollywood actor receives a monthly rent of Rs 3.5 lakh for the 1,500 square feet property, which comes with two parking spaces.

6. Ranbir Kapoor

Apart from acting and brand endorsements, he earns a substantial amount from his investments in startups and sports (he's the co-owner of Indian Super League team Mumbai City FC). Kapoor also earns Rs 4 lakhs every month from renting out his plush 6,100 square feet apartment, located in Pune's Trump Towers.
