‘Haunted’ village on sale for $173K has private beach, 17th-century ruins

An ancient Scottish village known to be “haunted” can be all yours for only $173,000.

Located in a town called Lawers which sits alongside the shores of Loch Tay in Perth and Kinross, the village is said to be home to the “ghost” of the Lady of Lawers — a 17th-century fortune teller.

Spanning 3.3 acres, the land boasts scenic views of Scotland’s central highlands and is made up of ruins from that time period, including a house, church and mill.

The “ghost” of the village is said to have made some eerie prophecies while she was alive that have come true.

In one instance, she is alleged to have planted an ash tree at the church, predicting that when it grew to the height of the little spire, the church would fall, according to Jam Press.

Later, the church became significantly damaged after a strong thunderstorm hit the area, including the ash tree, which died in the storm. The church was never used again.

She also predicted “a ship driven by smoke” long before the construction of steamships, according to Goldcrest Land and Forestry Group, which holds the listing.

An 1841 census suggests there may have been 17 people living by the Loch in the village. By 1891, there were just seven people – all of whom lived in the Pier Master’s house, which was abandoned in 1926.

“It’s a very special place, and while all properties are unique in their own way, this is perhaps more unique than others,” Jon Lambert, a partner at Goldcrest Land and Forestry Group, told Insider, adding that its location was also a selling point.

It was previously for sale in 2016 for $118,000.
